Summer Sample Auction - July 2011

The Provincetown Summer Sampler auction featured work from the Estate of Bruce Warren, art collector and Scientist Emeritus from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Bruce explored the Provincetown Art Colony in much the same way he discovered previously unknown deep currents in the Indian Ocean for which he was awarded the Maurice Ewing Medal in 2004 by the American Geographical Union. Warren was a frequent visitor and buyer at Provincetown Art Association and Museum and local art galleries. The sale also featured important offerings from the private collection of Jay Carney.

Works from the Poland Collection

A single owner auction sale of Important European and American paintings, prints, and  sculpture from the collection of Ted And  Mildred Poland was offered by James R Bakker Antiques, Inc on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 7 PM. The sale will took place in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Rare and highly important original furnishings from White Pines, the home built by Ralph and Jane Whitehead at the Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Colony, were sold at auction on October 27, 2005 at The Old Mill in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania.Although widely exhibited in museums across the country, this furniture, art pottery, and fine art has descended in the family since it was made in 1904. The unique Hermann Dudley Murphy chiffonier, (pictured at left) is considered to be a masterpiece of the American Arts & Crafts movement, and was among the choice offerings at this auction.
